Wildflour Cafe + Bakery

As I drove my way to this new discovery, I wondered how dinner at Wildflour Cafe + Bakery would turn out to be.  I was joined by two other friends, former office mates of mine from when I was still in the banking industry.

Fortunately, my able-bodied friend "P" was able to get the best table in the house. It's the only place that gives a full view of the Wildflour and it also allows us to be visible to its very busy serving staff.

Behind us was a colorful collage of animated images in identical black frames with accent lighting.

Practical yet striking display of animated images

Wildflour's strength is supposedly its bread and pastries selection. I guess this is evident by the limited display of breads and pastries which I assume was already depleted during the day.

I like the open kitchen plan where everything is visible even from the streets.

Wildlour Cafe + Bakery is owned by a U.S. based chef. No wonder the design aesthetic is reminiscent of chic bakeries in California.

Once we were seated, the server came over with complimentary bread (a baguette) and butter. Their bread is one of the best ones I have tried. It was crunchy on the outside and soft inside as a baguette should be.

For drinks, the four of us were curious about their non-alcoholic mojito so we all ended up having it. This refreshing drink is made up of pineapple, basil and passion berry iced tea. I'm craving for a glass of this right now!

The menu had 2 salad options:  green salad and arugula salad.  We chose the green salad which had a mixture of salad greens, walnuts and mango cubes.  This salad was quite light on the palate.  The mango vinaigrette added a tropical twist to this simple salad dish.

If you have an adventurous palate, why don't you try the baked escargot?  Their version is cooked in garlic butter and wrapped in puff pastry.  This dish got mixed reactions from my friends.  Personally, I liked it.  Just imagine mushrooms fried in garlic butter and you'll be fine.

The caramelized onions, bacon and gruyere tarte flambe was very good!  Tarte flambe is similar to thin crust pizza.  It is an Alsatian dish (Alsation comes from the place "Alsace" which is a small region in France) made of dough rolled out thinly into a rectangular shape then covered with toppings, usually cheese, then baked in a wood fired oven.

The skirt steak was juicy.  We requested ours to be cooked "medium well".

The accompanying fries came with three yummy dips.

Overall, the food was very good.  Price wise, you need to spend at least 600 pesos on food and shell out some more for your drinks.

I went there last week on a Sunday morning and the place was filled to the brim.  They're definitely doing well so I hope they expand soon to accommodate other diners.

Tip:  Make sure to reserve a table so you won't be disappointed.
